NV Low On Another Child Care List

A report on child homelessness out this week ranked Nevada 44th among the states. The National Center on Family Homelessness at the American Institutes for Research used data from last year to place states in 4 categories. Nevada ranked 47th in state policy and planning.  43rd in risk for child homelessness, 36th in the extent of child homelessness, and 30th in child well-being.  The report is called “America’s Youngest Outcasts.”

Jay Bartos joined Nevada Public Radio in 1993 to develop and manage the state’s first radio reading service for people unable to use standard printed material due to blindness or another disability. After the reading service was discontinued in 2011, he became the afternoon host on KNPR for ten years. Jay can now be heard on air on News 88.9 KNPR and Classical 89.7 KCNV throughout the week.
