Smoke Creates Unhealthy Reno Air

For the second day in a row, the National Weather Service issued a "dense smoke advisory" for Reno and much of the Sierra's eastern front. Smoke from a California wildfire nearly 100 miles away degraded the air quality.

Reno's air quality was considered unhealthy Tuesday morning for the general population. By noon, it improved to a range considered unhealthy primarily for sensitive populations, including the elderly and those with respiratory conditions.  The advisory is in effect through 8 p.m. It covers an area from Reno to Gardnerville.
