Phone Scam Has Jury Duty Angle

The U.S. Marshals office in Reno is warning about a new scam targeting northern Nevadans with fictitious telephone calls about jury duty.

They say they've received several reports of individuals who identify themselves as U.S. marshals over the phone and say they will arrest the person they’ve called if they don’t pay a fine for missing jury duty.  Officials with the U.S. Marshals Service say they never seek payment of fines or fees over the telephone. They urge anyone receiving such a call to refuse to provide any financial information and to report the incident to local police or the FBI.
