Ousted Washoe County School Superintendent Pedro Martinez has turned down a $25,000 settlement put forward by the board of trustees, according to his attorney.
Martinez hired Reno lawyer William Peterson after the superintendent was fired from his job in July. Peterson has said the legal fees to represent Martinez are already more than twice the $25,000 offer?
William Peterson, a partner with Snell & Wilmer in Reno, said a court-supervised medication is scheduled for Sept. 22.
Martinez was fired over a question about his CPA credentials, only to have that decision rescinded by the board. Days later, Martinez filed a a lawsuit against the school district and trustees for breach of contract.
