Nurses March For Pandemic Awareness

Thousands of nurses will march down Las Vegas Boulevard Wednesday to bring awareness to shortfalls in protecting health care workers in the U.S. and abroad in the event of a pandemic.

In light of the current Ebola crisis,  the Registered Nurse Response Network  worries that proper protocols may not be in  place in our own backyard. A recent scare in Sacramento forced the question of why a patient showing Ebola-like symptoms was left unattended for more than half an hour.

Hospitals should be equipped with gloves and contamination suits to protect health care workers, and the policies should be congruent to deal with an infectious event.
