Nevada Man Sentenced In Aircraft Laser Light Case

A 30-year-old Southern Nevada man has been sentenced to two years in federal prison for pointing a blue laser light at a Las Vegas police helicopter in January. James David Zipf was sentenced Tuesday by U.S. District Judge Miranda Du in Las Vegas, after pleading guilty in June to one count of aiming a laser pointer at an aircraft. Prosecutors dropped five other charges stemming from additional incidents in January and February.

Zipf moved last year to Henderson from Phoenix, where he was convicted in 2011 of pointing a laser at police helicopters there.
