Lieutenant Governor Hopefuls Set To Square Off

Nevada Lieutenant Governor hopefuls Lucy Flores and Mark Hutchison are set to square off in a debate in Las Vegas. The Hispanics in Politics organization is hosting the forum this morning.

The Democrat, Flores, has garnered national press coverage after leaving behind life in a gang, earning a law degree and winning a state assembly seat. The Republican Hutchison is a lawyer and state senator who enjoys the support of popular governor, Brian Sandoval.

Lieutenant Governor is a largely ceremonial, part-time job, but has been one of the most-watched of the election cycle. That's because the winner would take the Governor's seat if it's vacant in two years. Many speculate that Sandoval will win re-election and then challenge Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in 2016.
