Nevada's community colleges are getting nearly $10 million in federal grants to help train job seekers for in-demand careers. Gov. Brian Sandoval announced Monday that the Nevada Community College Consortium had landed the grant through the Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training program.
Funds will help the schools partner with employers to expand and improve career training programs in information technology, health care, energy and other fields. The consortium helps meet workforce needs across the state with a special emphasis on veterans and active-duty military personnel. Participating schools include the College of Southern Nevada.
