Glass Bottles Banned On Las Vegas Strip Sidewalks

Glass bottles and containers are no longer welcome on Las Vegas Strip sidewalks. Clark County commissioners voted unanimously Tuesday for the glass ban, which they say will reduce the litter and danger of shattered glass on walkways. Police said they've also seen a recent uptick in people using glass containers as weapons. The move has the support of the Nevada Resort Association casino lobby, but was opposed by some small business owners and the Retail Association of Nevada.

The commission plans to revisit the issue in six months to gauge the measure's impact on businesses.  Pedestrians will still be able to carry glass bottles on the Strip if they have them inside a bag that's stapled shut with a store receipt attached.
