Officials at UNLV have postponed plans for a new stadium for at least two years. UNLV Acting President Don Snyder said Thursday that other projects take priority over the venue, including a proposed medical school. Stadium plans were supposed to go to the Legislature for review during the 2015 legislative session.
Projected costs for the project range from $523 million for an open-air, shaded venue of 42,000 seats, to $833 million for a domed stadium of 60,000 seats. UNLV stadium board member and Regent James Dean Leavitt in July had proposed raising the hotel room tax on the Las Vegas Strip for funds, saying that all of Clark County would reap the benefits of a stadium.
