Sen. Reid, Federal Officials To Speak At Water Conference

A two-day conference in Las Vegas is focusing on the business of water and the need for sustainable supplies amid increasing demand in the drought-stricken Colorado River basin.  U.S. Senate Democratic Majority Leader Harry Reid and Assistant Secretary of the Interior Anne Castle are among scheduled speakers at the "Business of Water" summit Thursday and Friday.

Castle is a top federal water administrator. She's scheduled to speak Friday morning and Reid at noon to the conference hosted by Protect the Flows and Nuestro Rio at the Springs Preserve.

Organizers say more than 100 corporations, Main Street retailers, municipal water agencies and business associations are represented. Protect the Flows official Craig Mackey says the idea is to enlist business interests to help protect the Southwestern economy and communities into the future.
