More Than Half Of California In 'Exceptional Drought'

Federal monitors say more than half of California is now locked in their highest category of drought. That U.S. Drought Monitor ranking marks a 22-percent, one-week jump in California territory suffering what monitors call "exceptional drought."

Climate monitors say the latest figures show Northern California is in nearly as bad a shape as the rest of the state in the now three-year drought.
