Federal Money Earmarked For Nevada Homeless

More than $6.5 million in federal money is headed to southern Nevada to help people find homes.  Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid announced grants from the Department of Housing and Urban Development on Monday.

A $4.6 million Community Development Block Grant is aimed at developing housing and expanding economic opportunity for low- and moderate-income residents. A $363,000 Emergency Solutions Grant is focused on engaging people who live on the streets and improving the number and quality of emergency shelters. A $1.6 million HOME Grant is aimed at expanding affordable housing for low- and very low-income residents.
