Ashima Devices Brings Its Drones, 400 Jobs To Reno

Less than nine months after Nevada was chosen as a test site for unmanned aerial vehicle testing, the state is welcoming a California drone firm. Ashima Devices is moving from Pasadena to Reno and bringing with it some 400 jobs that pay on average $70,000.

Nevada is one of six test states chosen by the Federal Aviation Administration, and it  was the third state to receive federal approval to begin testing.

Ashima’s drones are made for law enforcement, fire and rescue, security and industrial environments. They provide “situational awareness,” according to the Ashima website.

The company’s headquarters and manufacturing facility will be located at Reno-Stead Airport. Ashima will also collaborate with the University of Nevada, Reno to prepare students for careers in the UAV field.
