The Carson City Sheriff's Office is warning residents of a telephone scam where victims are told police have a warrant for their arrest. Sheriff Ken Furlong says someone pretending to be Carson City Undersheriff Steve Albertsen has made the calls. The hoaxer sometimes offers accurate personal information about residents, such as their address or descriptions of their vehicles. The caller then tells residents there's a warrant for their arrest stemming from unpaid traffic tickets. Furlong says his office has received many reports of the calls but says no one appears to have sent the hoaxer any money.
