Nevada Ready To Spend Money To Stop Yucca Mountain

Nevada officials approved more money to continue the fight against Yucca Mountain. Tuesday the state's Board of Examiners, which included Governor Brian Sandoval and Secretary of State Ross Miller, approved a request for one-point-four million dollars to go to Nuclear Projects. Earlier this year federal court ruling required a licensing proceeding for Yucca to continue under the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, even though it only has 14-million dollars remaining to continue this process. A licensing process was estimated to take five years and cost as much as 100-million dollars. Even with that obstacle ahead of it, Governor Sandoval said it is not time for Nevada to have a false sense of security.
