Drought Affects Lake Tahoe Rafting

We’ve been hearing about the effects of drought on Lake Mead, but the dry streak is also taking a toll on boating and rafting around Lake Tahoe. Owners of the Truckee River Rafting Co. tell the Tahoe Daily Tribune that low Truckee flows won't allow rafting in August, one of their most profitable months. And starting Monday, the Sand Harbor boat ramp on Tahoe's northeast shore also will be closed for the rest of the season because of low water levels. The ramp usually stays open year-round.
