Kyle Canyon Road, Highway 157, is closed west of its intersection with Highway 158 following prolonged rainfall. Beyond that point the Nevada Highway Patrol is restricting traffic to emergency vehicles.
The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for the area until nine this evening, and the Clark County Regional Flood Control District has reported what it called “catastrophic flooding” in the Rainbow Canyon area, including the washing out of part of Rainbow Canyon Road. Much of the area was damaged last year in the Carpenter 1 wildfire.
