New Solar Plant Coming To The Valley

NV Energy is joining up with a solar panel maker to build a new solar array at Nellis Air Force Base. On Wednesday it was announced that the Nevada utility is teaming up with SunPower Corporation, a Silicon Valley company, to build a 19-megawatt solar power station at the base. Most of the power will flow primarily into Nellis. The California-based company had already built a 14-megawatt solar plant at Nellis in 2007. This is part of NV Energy's move to phase out coal-fueled plants. NV Energy already submitted plans to state regulators to develop 200 megawatt solar plants on Moapa Paiutes' land.
