Lawmakers Clear Up Language For November Ballot

State legislators have cleared up the language of two ballot questions that will be on the November ballot. The Legislative Commission finalized the language for question one, which creates an intermediate court of appeals. The second question would remove the constitutional protections for the net proceeds of minerals tax paid by mining companies. The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports there were debates over the language of question two, which is opposed by the Nevada mining industry.

If approved by voters the Legislature and governor can increase taxes on mining, which is capped at five percent.
