Las Vegas Metro Trying To Reduce Gangs

Las Vegas Metro has a new strategy when it comes to reducing the growth of gangs in the valley. The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that Metro's gang crimes bureau is reaching out to the parents of teens they believe are candidates or current members of gangs. Metro is also offering gang members the opportunity to have their name taken off the gang database if they prove they have left the gang and returned to school, got a job, or are doing civic service.

According to Metro there are about 600 different gangs in southern Nevada with roughly 20,000  members.
