CCSD Faces Lawsuit

Business Benefits Inc., a Las Vegas health insurance broker, filed a lawsuit against the Clark County School District, and is calling out the former superintendent.

The suit accuses the school district of breach of contract and denying due compensation. Business Benefits Inc., or BBI, provides consulting and brokerage services to CCSD. In December of 2013 the school district tried to terminate their contract with the broker. BBI officials claim that came six months too late. Business Benefits Inc also claims former superintendent Dwight Jones spent 30-million in health insurance reserve money to fund the support staff's union contributions, then tried to bury it in the budget. None of the parties involved commented on the lawsuit.
