Arizona Shelters Overflowing With Immigrant Children

NPR has reported on the increase of thousands of children crossing the border on their own. Now it appears a lot of those kids are ending up in Arizona. The Guatemalan Consulate in Phoenix says that this week it received 70 of its country's citizens who were released by U.S. immigration authorities. The migrants were brought in from Texas. Immigration officials say children's shelters and detention centers in Texas have been swamped by an influx of undocumented Central Americans in the past few months. Unofficial estimates show that roughly 66,000 unaccompanied children entered the U.S. this year so far.
