An event is being hosted this week that is focused on helping homeless and low-income families. It's the Family Connect Summer Resource Fair. Organizers say it's an opportunity to help families find assistance in childcare, housing, healthcare and job readiness.
The event is sponsored by Nevada Homeless Alliance. The last homeless count done in January shows the homeless population grew by 28 percent over the past year. According to the census roughly 37,000 southern Nevadans have experienced homelessness once in the past year. The event is Thursday starting at 11:00 a.m. at the East Las Vegas Community Center.
