Nationwide, donor organs are in short supply. Too many people require transplants and not enough organs are available. And the problem may be much worse in Southern Nevada, which has to get organs from Southern California, where getting a donor can take years. Yet high-profile recipients like the baseball slugger Mickey Mantle and the Apple CEO managed to get on the list. How does the donor system work? Can we make it fairer or more efficient? What would that take?
