Nevada's Prescription Drug Problem

The link between prescription pain killers and street drugs like heroin has come under scrutiny recently. A new report from the Centers for Disease Control shows that the main source of these prescription painkillers is not friends, parents or Craigslist, but doctors who overprescribe.

Many doctors, however, resist putting stricter regulations in place to monitor how they prescribe, since it would limit their ability to offer medications that they believe are safe and necessary to the patient.
