Kirk Bloodsworth was an oysterman on the Eastern Shore of Maryland in the 1980s. He was arrested and charged with the rape and murder of a girl even though he did not match the description of the suspect. Still he was convicted on the evidence of five eye witnesses. His languished in prison for eight years until he was able to persuade the courts to allow the evidence in his case to be tested for DNA. Those tests proved he had nothing to do with the crime and he now works to ensure DNA testing is used to confirm the guilt of those convicted.
