Voters in New York approved a lawthat will allow for the creation of large, Las Vegas-style casinos in some upstate areas. One of the areas targeted for development is the Catskills. That area has declined economically since its heyday as a Jewish vacation destination from about 1920 to 1970. Can gambling bring the tourists back to the Catskills and revive the area as a travel destination?
