Sheriff Fires Officer Who Shot Unarmed Vet

In December 2011, Officer Jesus Arevalo shot and killed unarmed veteran Stanley Gibson during a confrontation with police in a parking lot. Earlier this week, Sheriff Doug Gillespie decided to fire Arevalo on the recommendation of the Use of Force and Pre-Termination Boards. It's a first for the department, which has never fired an officer for use of force. So does that mean the culture is changing at Metro? Or was the case worse than most?
