Ensign Scandal Update

The Justice Department has already told Senator John Ensign he is no longer a target in its investigation of the lobbying scandal that was exposed when he had to confess to an extramarital affair. His former Chief of Staff and one-time best friend, Doug Hampton, was not so lucky. He has been indicted and has been granted a public defender for lobbying former colleagues within the one-year window imposed by a 2007 reform law that tried to slow the revolving door to K Street in Washington, D.C. And many observers are asking, "Where is the justice in that?"
