Crossing the Border for a Dentist

You can bargain for a deal on sunglasses or jeans... but a root canal? In Los Algodones, south of the border, you definitely can. The Mexican city is packed with dentists who drastically underprice American dental care: dental work that would've cost a trucker $20,000 in the United States only cost him $3,800 in Mexico. Two Fronteras reporters traveled to Los Algodones to see how a town known for cantinas and bordellos transformed into a dental hot spot, and what that says about the bigger picture of health care.
