Mindful planting and watering can help keep desert appropriate plants from overtaking one's yard.

If you have a blank area, say 15 or 20 feet of unplanted rock mulch, consider installing Acacia redolens. With minimal attention, you'll have lush greenery. For a smaller patch of ground, find something else.
