Las Vegas is in the middle of a two-week arts festival downtown. The Contemporary Art Center is spearheading "Off the Strip," which features the work of some twenty artists from around the world and its organizers hope it will grow into an annual, internationally-recognized event.

The festival features an artistic program consisting exclusively of performance and video art presented at four distinctive locations. The unconventional venues underscore the outerlying position performance art occupies relative to the rest of the fine art realm. In addition to the CAC itself, located inside downtown's Arts Factory, they include the showroom at the Aruba Hotel and Spa, the Onyx Theater, and Dino's.
