CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak says he's confident that all of Nevada will be able to reopen on June 1.
The Democrat on Tuesday said he still plans to hand most of the decision-making to county officials starting May 1. He will allow them to set capacity and social distancing guidelines while keeping the statewide mask mandate in effect.
As variants and uncertainty surrounding the Johnson & Johnson vaccine pose new pandemic challenges, states are taking divergent approaches in reopening plans.
Republican critics said the governor's decision to opine about reopening decisions delegated to counties was a political move.
