RENO, Nev. (AP) — Reno officials have reached a tentative agreement to pay $4.5 million to settle a lawsuit brought by residents whose homes were flooded north of the city in 2017.
About 30 homeowners in the community of Lemmon Valley filed a lawsuit after the city diverted excess stormwater into a local lake.
Reno's city council is expected to approve the payment on May 12 to resolve all existing state and federal lawsuits. A judge ordered the city on March 15 to pay $1.1 million to three Lemmon Valley residents for damages plus interest for court fees.
