Updated Vote Count Puts Biden Ahead In Nevada, Judge Denies GOP Motion

Updated: 4:52 p.m.

New results released Friday afternoon put Democrat Joe Biden ahead of President Donald Trump by more than 22,000 votes in Nevada.

According to new numbers from the Secretary of State's office, Biden now has 49.83 percent of the vote in the state compared with 48.08 for Trump with 87 percent of the precincts reporting.

In addition, a federal judge denied a motion by the Nevada Republican Party to stop the counting of votes, according to Channel 8 KLAS-TV. The GOP had sued to stop the count alleging voter fraud.

The judge denied the party's motion to stop the use of a signature verification machine.

In a news conference Friday, Clark County Registrar of Voters Joe Gloria said 63,000 mail ballots still need to be counted and another 60,000 provisional ballots will be processed after that. More vote totals are expected to be announced Friday afternoon.

He did not estimate how many more voters would be reported.

Gloria would not comment when asked whether threats had been made against the department or its vote counters — as has been reported in Philadelphia. He said he had confidence in the Las Vegas Metro Police’s ability to provide security.

Nevada has six Electoral College votes and could be decisive as Biden closes in on the 270 needed to win the White House.

Trump narrowly lost Nevada in 2016.
