Police: Las Vegas Officers, Accused Gunman Exchanged 20 Shots

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Police in Las Vegas say two patrol officers and a 25-year-old man exchanged 20 gunshots, but no one was wounded, before the man was arrested this past weekend.

Assistant Sheriff Brett Zimmerman told reporters Wednesday that Nicholas Tano pulled a handgun from the trunk of his car and fired 11 shots Sunday afternoon at two officers.

The two officers were responding to a woman's 911 call. The woman told officers that Tano had a gun and was threatening her in a northwest Las Vegas home.

Tano remained jailed Thursday on $250,000 bail pending a Sept. 16 court hearing on attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and resisting arrest charges.
