Las Vegas Area Sets New Record Of 151 Days Without Rain

LAS VEGAS (AP) — It's been dry in Las Vegas for 151 days, breaking a record set more than 60 years ago.

The National Weather Service says Friday set a record for days without measurable rain, passing a 150-day stretch from February to July 1959. The monitoring station at McCarran International Airport recorded a sprinkling of rain on April 20, just 0.2 inches.

A trace of rain fell July 19, but the amount didn't register. Officials say rain isn't forecast anytime soon. The weather service has issued a red flag fire warning Friday due to expected gusty afternoon winds and low humidity.
