Former Nevada Police Chief Sues City For Discrimination

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A former Nevada police chief has filed a lawsuit against the city she used to serve, alleging that she faced discrimination because she is a Black woman.

Former Henderson Police Chief LaTesha Watson says that she faced racial and gender discrimination and a hostile work environment during her time at the department.

Henderson spokeswoman Kathleen Richards says Watson's "unsubstantiated claims of racism and discrimination" came only after the city fired her in 2019.

An investigator in March 2019 recommended that city officials consider firing her after completing investigations into her conduct.

Watson and her attorney did not respond to a request for comment.
