Nevada To Expand, Speed Up Coronavirus Testing

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Health officials announced plans on Wednesday to expand coronavirus testing capacity in both northern and southern Nevada.

In the Reno area, local officials said that they had entered into a new contract with Charles River Lab, hoping to reduce the coronavirus test processing backlog.

In the Las Vegas area, local officials announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services would provide 60,000 additional tests as part of a surge testing program.

The state reported 253 additional cases and 20 deaths on Wednesday, bringing its totals to 66,666 confirmed cases and 1,250 deaths.
