Evacuations Ordered As Crews Battle Massive California Fire

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Crews are battling a Southern California wildfire that exploded in size in a matter of hours north of Los Angeles, prompting evacuation orders for about 100 homes and other buildings.

The fire that erupted Wednesday afternoon in the Angeles National Forest has burned more than 15.6 square miles of brush and forest land. Some of that area hasn't burned since 1968.

A home and some outbuildings may have burned, and several roads are closed near Lake Hughes.

People under evacuation orders were directed to shelter areas but because of coronavirus concerns, they were sheltering in their cars.
