Technology For Distance Learning Among Concerns For CCSD Reopening Plan

The Clark County School District’s Board of Trustees held a special meeting Monday to discuss a proposed reopening plan that comes up for a vote this week.

Board President Lola Brooks was among the trustees who emphasized making sure students have access to the technology they need for distance learning.

Brooks said the students in the third planned cohort of students, who are opting for online-only courses, should be given priority when distributing tablets and other needed equipment.

Multiple trustees also voiced concerns about supporting food programs, special education and English language learner students while following guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The reopening plan faces a vote Thursday.
