Rally Highlights Still-Shuttered Live Event Industry

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — People in the live-events industry who were forced out of work because of the COVID-19 pandemic marched Tuesday to draw attention to the plight of people and businesses who put on concerts, theater and sports.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports that about 100 people came out to show support. Utah's live-events industry represents 30,000 jobs and some $4 billion in revenue lost this year.

Even as states begin to reopen, the industry is still largely closed down. They hope the government will extend bolstered unemployment benefits to the end of 2020, and grant loans to help their businesses stay afloat.
