Members Of MS-13 Arrested In Las Vegas In Nationwide Crackdown

The Department of Justice announced the indictment of 13 leaders, members and associates of the international criminal gang known as MS-13.

A Las Vegas federal grand jury handed up the indictments earlier this month. The department unsealed them Tuesday.

Following the indictment, agents arrested 11 of the 13 people Tuesday. Four were arrested in Los Angeles and seven were found in Las Vegas. Two other men are considered fugitives.

The grand jury indicted the members under the federal "Kingpin" statute, which was passed to go after large drug trafficking operations.

The department said the MS-13 gang members were responsible for moving large amounts of methamphetamine from Southern California to Las Vegas.

The arrests were part of a nationwide crackdown that targeted the gang in Southern Nevada, New York and Virginia.
