Lawmakers May Revisit Police Misconduct Investigation Bill

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — A law passed last year that gives police officers broad protection during misconduct investigations has become a key issue ahead of a special legislative session to address criminal justice reform.

The debate over the law that was lobbied for by the Las Vegas Police Protective Association pits labor and criminal justice reform advocates against each other.

It also puts Democrats who control the Legislature in a precarious position between two key constituencies. The law's sponsor, Senate Democratic Majority Leader Nicole Cannizzaro, says she's open to having lawmakers revisit the issue during the special session.
