Spring Creek Man Shot, Killed By Trooper Had Criminal Record

ELKO, Nev. (AP) — Authorities say the man who was killed by a Nevada state trooper after he fired at the patrolman during a foot chase in Elko over the weekend had a criminal record that included burglary and domestic battery.

The Elko County Coroner's Office identified the victim as 30-year-old Aaron Wesley Keller of Spring Creek. The patrol says Keller was stopped for suspected drunken driving Friday night in Elko County. Investigators say he ran off before field sobriety testing began and then fired "multiple rounds at the trooper."

A handgun was recovered at the scene. The trooper was not injured.
