CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — In response to the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis and the protests that have followed, Nevada lawmakers have vowed to reform how law enforcement operates in the state.
Attorney General Aaron Ford provided lawmakers a list of policy ideas to consider that, if passed, would transform policing in Nevada. The proposals include giving the attorney general oversight power to investigate local law enforcement misconduct allegations, overhauling training protocols and banning chokeholds.
The attorney general emphasized that the list merely offered ideas and shouldn't be interpreted as his recommendations.
