'Glamping' Resort Proposed Near Zion National Park

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A proposal for a "glamping" resort and other campgrounds near Zion National Park's northern boundary is raising concerns among residents about the development of pristine lands.

The developer says the "Above Zion" resort and three small campsites would help alleviate some of the overcrowding at the popular national park and still give visitors a chance to see the beautiful red rock vistas of southern Utah.

Critics worry about how developers would get water, power and electricity to the remote area without disrupting the natural landscape. A county planning commission has yet to issue a permit for the project.
