SPARKS, Nev. (AP) — Authorities say Sparks police officers fatally shot a suspect who crashed his vehicle into a police car and rock landscaping after reportedly trying to use a chainsaw to destroy a door in a motel lobby.
Reno police are investigating the incident that occurred Tuesday night in Sparks.
A statement issued Reno police said Sparks officers had responded to a report of a person using a chainsaw to destroy a wooden door separating him from motel employees. According to the statement, the suspect was getting into his vehicle as officers arrived.

It said he disregarded orders to stop and then tried driving off, leading to the crashes and shooting. No officers were injured. The suspect's identity wasn't released.
