Gov. Steve Sisolak released a prepared statement Tuesday announcing the state will enter Phase 2 of reopening Friday, May 29.

In the announcement, the governor laid out a number of changes to regulations. People will now be allowed to go to public and private gatherings of no more than 50 people, while maintaining social distancing.

Gyms, movie theaters, swimming pools and spas will be allowed to reopen with restrictions, including keeping to 50 percent of capacity and adhering to social distancing rules.

The governor also reiterated the target date of June 4 for reopening gaming in the state.

Gov. Sisolak said Nevada has continued to see a downward trend in hospitalizations for COVID-19.

The governor had planned to hold a news conference Tuesday evening to announce the changes but it was canceled because of concerns about the governor being exposed to the virus.

He had visited a workplace where an employee later tested positive for the virus.

The governor is getting tested for the virus Wednesday morning and will report the findings as soon as possible.

After the in-person news conference was canceled, the governor's office had planned to release a video of the announcement but technical difficulties prevented the video from being released. Instead, the governor released a written statement.
